The Effect of Oral Health Promotion Behavior on Psychological Happiness and Stress

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to reveal association between oral health promotion behavior on psychological happiness and stress. Oral health promotion behavior was composed of dietary habits, toothbrushing, oral hygiene devices and regular dental visit. We thought these factors affect to the psychological happiness and stress. For this study, 200 adults in Busan, Ulsan and Kyungnam are participated in this study. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, pearson¡¯s correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis with SPSS 21.0 program. In conclusion, we obtained the next results. First, the mean of oral health promotion behavior was 3.12 out of 5. In terms of sub-domain, toothbrushing (3.45) is the highest, followed by oral hygiene devices (3.09), dietary habits (2.75) and regular dental visit (2.66). Second, the influencing factor in stress were toothbrushing (¥â=-.169), adjusted R2=.024. Third, the influencing factor in psychological happiness were oral hygiene devices (¥â=.195) and dietary habits (¥â=.162), adjusted R2=.077. According to the results, toothbrushing is effective in decreasing the stress. Also, oral hygiene devices
and dietary habits is effective in increasing the psychological happiness.
